The prices are better than pancheros and chipotle and the food is better. I'm so happy this place opened!

Whoa this is my kind of place! Small nice quick stop type if place with only a counter to eat at. Set up is so similar to the fast casual Mexican food trend we see in other restaurants. I tried three hard shell tacos in steak, ground beef, and chicken. They were so delicious I liked the flavor a lot of each meat. The toppings were fresh and the hot sauce was a perfect finish to these delicious tacos. Definitely one of my new favs in Iowa City, this is a must try.

Good food, the only thing is that I do not like their salsa. It's not like your typical authentic fresh salsa. This disappoints me because I live for chips and salsa. Bonus is that they do deliver! Clear out to Windsor Ridge, Scott Blvd, American Legion Rd area.

Very good food. As it was my first-time ordering from here, I would have liked to have known I needed to specify toppings for my tacos, or they came plain. I was also a little disappointed that my salsa was forgotten, so my order of chips and salsa, was just chips. However food was here faster then expected, delivery driver went above and beyond to find me, in the rain, and food was delicious just the same. Would definitely recommend and order from them again.

Ehh. Probably best way to describe this place. Went there for lunch with a friend and got beef and chicken tacos with a side of rice. They had a good amount of toppings to add, which gave them the potential to be really good. Buuuut.... Everything was cold. When you're ordering your food you notice that the meat has been pre made and is just sitting out in front of you. Even the side of rice was room temp at best. Another thing that sucked were the drinks. They have 1.50 fountain pop listed on their menu, which is an average price for a fountain drink so whatever. I guess they must not have it installed or something, because I ordered a drink and received a warm can of dr pepper. The food itself tasted ok, aside from the temperature thing. But then you factor in the price. Holy crap were their tacos over priced. 2.50 for a cold beef taco? I can go to La Michoacana and get $1 beef tacos, all day, every day. Speaking of which, if you want the best Mexican food in Iowa city, try that, because this place puts up a pretty bad attempt.

Great place with fair prices. Quick, friendly, and DELICIOUS! Not to mention they deliver. Would prefer mamis over chipotle and pancheros any day!

Not only are their burritos delicious and reasonably priced, but the first time I went there I had the privilege of watching a Tupac music video on their TV, featuring two girls getting it on. Priceless.

man, they have great food. they cook that steak up when you order it and all their ingredients taste fresher than panch or chipotle. also I hear their working on a fresh-pressed tortilla recipe and once they get that panch will have nothing on them

Got some tacos, was disappointed. Lots of meat for the price, but everything was cold and mushy by the time I got back to work. Was pretty bland as well. Might give it another try since I've heard good things from several people, but I suspect most of those people were drunk when they came here.

I absolutely love Mamis! First of all its open late and the workers are always super friendly. They sometimes have a DJ late night which really adds to the atmosphere. As far as the food goes, it does not get any better. The enchiladas are made to order, the carnitas are to die for and the chips and salsa are best in town. I always make sure to have a jar of Mamis salsa at home. Do yourself a favor and check out Mamis!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
